Team

Meet the makers.

Overview

We asked our team to choose a piece of art that represents them. From Caravaggio to Emigre, from Swiss modernism to Memphis chaos. Different backgrounds, different influences, same high standards.

Gatherings

COLLINS House SXSW: Americana First

How does American identity shape global culture—and how is that identity being reimagined today?

That was the question driving “Americana First,” COLLINS’ opening installment of an ongoing series of pop-up cultural gatherings exploring how foundational myths shape contemporary life.

For this inaugural exhibit, we gathered at Arlyn Studios in Austin. Once the Texas Opry House, it’s now a recording studio that’s hosted everyone from Willie Nelson to Sublime to Robert Plant.

We gathered people who’ve spent their lives shaping American culture and identity.

A NASA creative director reflected on the exploration of frontiers. The costume designer from Yellowstone spoke about American authenticity. Western heritage brands unpacked how they’re reinterpreting cowboy culture for a new generation. Cattle ranchers spoke about land, legacy, and the real meaning of sustainability. Norm Clasen—the photographer behind Marlboro Country—revealed how his images transformed America's West from wild to romantic.

The conversations made one thing clear: Americana is not fixed. It’s a living construction, shaped by memory, critique, and reinvention.

Based on the success of this gathering, The Branch Museum of Design selected "Americana First" to not only be part of its Spring 2026 exhibition, but to anchor it.

Sign up below to learn about that Spring 2026 exhibition or our next COLLINS House.
