Team

Meet the makers.

Overview

We asked our team to choose a piece of art that represents them. From Caravaggio to Emigre, from Swiss modernism to Memphis chaos. Different backgrounds, different influences, same high standards.

LESI x COLLINS

Pop Up Magazine, the dynamic live storytelling experience that blends music, video, and journalism, invited COLLINS to craft a visual identity for their Golden State Record show at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, CA. The theme? A tribute to the Voyager Golden Records—the iconic records that NASA launched into space, capturing the sounds and images of Earth’s diverse life and culture. In other words, the ultimate time capsule.

Our challenge was to create a visual system that responded to music in real time, one that would capture the ephemeral magic of a live performance. Enter Nosaj Thing, the LA-based record producer, whose atmospheric soundscapes became the heartbeat of our design. Together, we developed the Live Experimental Special Instrument (LESI)—a tool that translates music into a one-of-a-kind visual language, creating a living, breathing artwork in sync with the music.

In front of 5,000 people, COLLINS and digital artist Jono Brandel brought this concept to life, crafting a live experience that was as spontaneous as it was immersive. Every sound Nosaj Thing made on stage triggered a unique visual response—one that would never be seen again. The visuals, shaped by the music, became the visual time capsule for the night.

To extend this experience beyond the Greek Theatre, we developed a companion website—lesi.wearecollins.com—where users could get a glimpse of the magic that unfolded live on stage. It’s not just a digital archive; it’s a reflection of a moment in time, captured in sound and image, as fleeting and vibrant as the show itself.

A tribute to the Golden Record, the performance became its own form of space travel—charting a course through the intersection of sound, visuals, and collective memory.
