Team

Meet the makers.

Overview

We asked our team to choose a piece of art that represents them. From Caravaggio to Emigre, from Swiss modernism to Memphis chaos. Different backgrounds, different influences, same high standards.

Collaborations

New Visual Artists x COLLINS

COLLINS collaborated with PRINT Magazine to create the visual identity for New Visual Artists (NVA), PRINT's prestigious program celebrating emerging talent in design. The NVA awards recognize breakthrough creative voices, providing a platform for the next generation of visual artists to gain recognition within the global design community.

COLLINS designers Nicole Cousins and Jaeyou Chung approached the identity through the metaphor of a frame—a device that simultaneously sets work apart and integrates it into its surroundings. "I wanted to visualize honoring new people and new voices within the identity," explains Cousins. The logotype doesn't just speak to achievement but embodies the experience of recognition itself.

The typography borrows from 19th-century wood type and Tuscan forms while incorporating contemporary super-thick slab serifs, creating a system that bridges past and future. "Frames represent the ultimate form of creative service, channeling their own artistic intent to highlight someone else's," notes Chung. "This reflects NVA's mission to honor and showcase the creativity of others."

The team envisioned the identity as both digital mark and physical trophy—something that could stand proudly on a winner's desk fifteen years from now, embodying NVA's role in supporting emerging voices. The result is an identity system that adapts to showcase diverse work while maintaining instant recognition—a fitting herald for design's next generation.
