AIGA
Challenge
Founded in 1914, the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) is the oldest and largest organization for design. Each year, the organization awards the AIGA Medal, its highest honor, to the discipline’s luminaries. The 2014 Awards Gala coincided with the AIGA’s centennial anniversary, for which we were tasked with creating a commemorative book.
Strategy
Every graphic designer can mark the same significant moment in their career: When they realized they had talent. We set out to mark that time for them − aligning award recipients with the 100-year old design institution that was honoring them.
Solution
The cover of the book represented the institution’s 100 years as 100 dots, attributing one dot for that significant moment in time for each honored designer.
